The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) is a public administration institution subordinated to the Minister of Economics of the Republic of Latvia. LIAA implements state support programmes, providing grants to entrepreneurs to increase their competitiveness and promote innovations. It also offers assistance throughout the process of setting up business operations in Latvia, acting as a first point of contact and as a “one-stop-shop” in assisting investors and in developing tailored solutions to meet their specific needs.
In the field of space technology, LIAA takes part in the coordination of the national space industry, provides support to Latvian companies for participation at international space events, promotes the Latvian space industry’s integration in the global space supply chains, identifies international opportunities for space solutions developed in Latvia and attracts investments in the Latvian space sector. LIAA is part of the Latvian Space Office and also ensures the participation of Latvia in the European Space Agency’s Industrial Policy Committee (IPC), Technology Advisory Working Group (TA-WG), and Industrial Policy Evolution Working Group (IPE-WG). In cooperation with the European Space Agency’s Industrial Policy Committee, LIAA performs coordination and harmonization tasks between European and national space activities and sets the European industrial policy environment of procurements.
