EU funding for space

The European Union supports the development and ambition of the European Union's space capacities and has a variety of financing instruments to support research, development and innovation in space, which includes the Cassini programme, Horizon Europe and other mechanisms.

The organisations registered in Latvia are qualified for the all opportunities listed below.



With an overall budget of EUR 34,5 million, the third Horizon Europe call looks to support the development of innovative downstream applications that leverage EU Space.

  • Copernicus-based applications for businesses and policymaking (Research and Innovation Action) 7m EUR
  • Designing space-based downstream applications with international partners (Research and Innovation Action) 6m EU
  • EU GOVSATCOM for a safer and more secure EU (Innovation Action) 10m EUR

Deadline for applications: 14 February 2024.

Cassini is the European Union's (EU) initiative to support entrepreneurship in space-related businesses across the EU. The CASSINI was launched in launched on 25 January 2022 and will deploy a €1 billion investment to boost space companies in the EU in the next seven years.

The initiative is tailored to meet the needs of companies in different growth stages from seed to mid-caps. Both companies developing space technology and those marketing digital applications can benefit.
