EVENT: First-Ever Latvian-Norwegian Space Seminar Brings Together Experts from Both Nations

The ‘Latvian-Norwegian Space Seminar’ was held as a special networking event during ‘Spaceport Norway’ on 11 November in Oslo. The seminar was organised by Innovation Norway and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), with support from the Norway Grants.

The event featured prominent speakers from Latvia and Norway, who shared valuable insights into current space policies and highlighted key industry initiatives. The seminar opened with Mr Ole Morten Olsen from the Norwegian Space Agency, who outlined Norway’s position as a Space Nation and underscored the importance of international partnerships that leverage each country’s strengths. Mr Simon Flack provided further insights into Innovation Norway’s support offerings for the space industry, while Ms Angelina Bekasova, representing the Ministry of Economics, outlined Latvia’s ambitions and progress in the space sector. Additionally, Professor Andris Vaivads, Rector of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, shared insights into the ecosystem surrounding the Nordic region’s largest radio telescope in Irbene, which is poised for commercialisation and offers significant potential for both research and industry applications.

During the event, 11 Latvian companies pitched their products and solutions to over 30 Norwegian companies that attended. The seminar provided an excellent platform for Norwegian and Latvian companies to connect with industry leaders, explore collaborative opportunities, and discover innovations shaping the future of space technology.
