The 9th edition of the CASSINI Hackathon, a key initiative under the European Commission’s space entrepreneurship program, will take place from 16–18 May 2025 in Vilnius, Lithuania, alongside several other European cities. Under the theme “Space for Healthcare,” this year’s event invites participants from Europe—especially the Baltic region—to co-create space-based solutions to modern health challenges.
Held in a hybrid format at Vilnius TECH, the event offers an open invitation to students, innovators, and startups to tackle three vital topics:
Participants will receive hands-on training, expert mentoring, and the chance to qualify for both local and European-level prizes, including an incubation program and equity-free funding provided by BSV Ventures.
With the support of regional stakeholders such as Baltic Sandbox, Innovation Agency Lithuania, and Space Hub LT, the hackathon highlights a growing Baltic collaboration in space and health tech. Notably, the University of Latvia—one of Latvia’s leading universities—and its expert Ingus Mitrofanovs are among the official supporters, reinforcing the commitment of Latvia’s research and innovation ecosystem to this cross-border initiative.
“Our region has the talent and infrastructure to lead in space-powered health innovation,” said a spokesperson for Baltic Sandbox. “With strong representation from Lithuania, Latvia, and other Baltic neighbors, this hackathon is a step toward a more integrated and impactful innovation landscape.”
This follows the success of the 7th CASSINI Hackathon, which was held in Latvia, and marks another milestone in ensuring strong Baltic representation in the European space-tech movement.
