The Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) welcomes Latvia’s Federation of Security and Defence Industries (FSDI), amplifying Europe’s defence voice with Baltic perspectives. Strengthening cross-border collaboration and resilience in European security and industry.
ASD is pleased to announce the accession of FSDI Latvia, the principal organisation representing Latvia’s security and defence industry, as a national association member. With this, ASD further deepens its engagement across Europe, adding a vital perspective to its expanding network.
FSDI Latvia plays a pivotal role in coordinating Latvia’s defence industrial and scientific sectors, engaging both nationally and internationally. From active contributions to the NATO Industry Advisory Group and the European Defence Agency, to cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DEFIS), FSDI Latvia exemplifies strategic outreach in a complex geopolitical landscape. The association also builds bilateral relationships with peer institutions across Europe and beyond, fostering cross-border innovation and collaboration.
Jan Pie, Secretary General of ASD, welcomed the announcement, saying: “Latvia is an increasingly important player in Europe’s security and defence environment. The inclusion of FSDI Latvia strengthens not only our geographic reach but also our collective industrial intelligence.”
Elina Egle, Chairperson of the Board of Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia, said: “The security and defence of the European Union is the responsibility of its member states and every citizen. I believe that security is a verb. FSDI Latvia unites, represents and drives the industry in its country since 2013. ASD unites doers – industry and national defence industry associations. Geopolitical reality encourages industry leaders to work together, because only in this way can we face new global challenges.”
